C. SCOTT BRAINARD

C. Scott Brainard has practiced in and around the Tampa Bay area since his graduation from Stetson University College of Law in 1979. His practice centers principally on transactional matters in a wide variety of real estate and business areas, including:

• commercial and residential leasing and sales
• loan documentation and counsel to commercial and real estate lenders
• construction matters
• interpretation, negotiation and drafting of contracts
• formation of and general counsel to corporations, limited liability companies, and other business organizations
• general real estate and business counseling
• title insurance

            A significant part of Mr. Brainard's practice also involves condominium and planned development law, including representation of developers, condominium and homeowners associations, homeowners, property management companies, construction industry contractors and lending institutions. During the over 26 years of his career, he has represented the interests of over 200 condominium and homeowners associations.

Enjoying an extensive involvement in community activities, Mr. Brainard currently serves as General Counsel and is on the Executive Committee of the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce. He was named the Paul L. Getting Chamber Member of the Year at the Chamber's 100^th Annual Meeting in 2000.  He is a 1987 graduate of Leadership St. Petersburg, and is a past President of the Leadership St. Petersburg Alumni Association. He serves on the Focus St. Pete Committee which organizes and presents a program designed to acquaint business executives new to the area with St. Petersburg 's educational, cultural, governmental, economic development and social services sector. He is an active member of the Suncoasters of St. Petersburg and the Festival of States. Due to a lifelong enjoyment of sports and athletics, Mr. Brainard has been active in numerous sports organizations in St. Petersburg , including The Devil Rays Clutch Hitters and the Chamber of Commerce Sports Council.

Professionally, Mr. Brainard is a member of the Florida Bar Association, serving on its Condominium and Planned Development Committee since 1981. In 1997, he attained Board Certification in Real Estate Law through the Florida Bar's Board of Legal Specialization and Education. He is a member of the Community Law Program, an organization committed to providing pro bono and low cost legal services to the indigent in St. Petersburg . Mr. Brainard is also an affiliate member of the Florida Gulfcoast Commercial Association of Realtors, an organization providing networking opportunities, education and services to commercial real estate brokers throughout the Tampa Bay area. He was named Affiliate of the Year for that Association in 2003.
